Rice and diabetes
Rice is a staple food of India especially in kokan. Rice is used in mostly in every popular local menu and festive occassion. Nowadays rice is getting suddenly ban in certain diseases like diabetes but we should remember that rice is a cereal like any other cereal with some added advantages. Every cereal like Rice, Wheat, Jowar and Bajra – on digestion gives majorly carbohydrates. If we notice the nutritive values of rice with chapati or bhakari, we can easily observe that 80 grams cooked rice gives 21 gram of carbohydrates which even 1 small phulka also give. Unlike any other cereal, rice has high levels of an essential amino acid called as lysine. All other grains and cereals have limited source of this amino acid. It means that lysine is either totally absent or inadequate in other grains. Lysine is an essential amino acid – which means it is not produced by the body and has to be consumed through food. Hence every vegetarian need to consume rice to fullfill body’s needs .

Cooked rice has less than 10% starch left .
Rice is traditionally eaten with dal sabji along with ghee and this lowers the glycemic index of meals hence it is totally safe for diabetics
Rice promotes growth of probiotic bacteria , eases bowel movements
Rice has inositol which has fat burning and anxiety properties. Promotes premature wrinkling.
